Twin Engines ARF

Military B-25 Mitchell 52 - 71" Nitro Gas Twin Engine Radio Remote Controlled ARF Plane

The B-25 originated in a request for a twin-engine bomber airplane that could out-perform existing single-engine types.  71.0" wingspan, 55.0" long, 778.0 sq. in. wing area, 9.3 lb. flying weight. Amazing detail, the art of the B-25 Mitchell rc model airplane brought to a new level. All Laser Cut Balsa/Plywood construction. Comes with fuel tanks, landing gears, screws and hardware. The mass balances on the elevator are faithfully reproduced. The aircraft is very high quality, high detail, right down to the gun sights. While a great deal of work has been done (about 90% done), there is still a little assembly for you to do. Included is also a illustrated instruction manual. Flight performance is very good with the .52 engines that we recommend and the plane is easy to fly. Landings are slow and soft.  Five channels are required: (11 servos).

B25 Army Nitro RC Plane
Brief history: The B-25 was the first multi engine bomber designed for the United States' Army Air Corps before the Second World War and made immortal on April 18, 1942, when it became the first United States aircraft to bomb the Japanese mainland.  They were the heaviest aircraft at the time to be flown from a ship at sea. The original design had shoulder-mounted wings and a crew of three in a narrow fuselage. The North American company had never designed a multi-engine bomber before.  The USAAC then decided its new bomber would need a much larger payload -- double the original specifications. North American designers dropped the wing to the aircraft's mid-section, and widened the fuselage so the pilot and co-pilot could sit side-by-side. They also improved the cockpit.

First impressions are important, and at first glance, the B-25J gooks great. The quality of the wood is very good, and the construction is excellent. The Canopy, Superchargers and Air Scoops are all vacu-formed plastic, and the Cowls are made of a good sturdy fiberglass. The overall construction and quality of this airframe is very good.

You will need to purchase some building supplies, engines, spinners, servo extensions, and a radio. The 11-page instruction manual has excellent-quality step-by-step drawings.
Pluses:

• Handsome painted finish and full-color decal sheet.

Details and Recommendations:
Type: Semiscale ARF
Pilot Skill Level: Intermediate
Wingspan: 73 inches
Wing area: 1,286.5 square inches
Length: 52.5 inches
Weight: 11-11.5 pounds
Wing loading: 20.6 ounces per square inch
Engine: .25-.32 (two-stroke) or .26-.30 (four-stroke)
Radio: Five- to six-channel transmitter, seven to nine servos (rudder, elevator, flaps, one for each aileron, one for each throttle, one for each optional retract)
Construction: Molded fiberglass fuselage, tail sections, wing center-section, and engine nacelles with light-plywood support, balsa-and-plywood wing panels and sections
Covering/finish: Three-color flat-finished camouflage paint over fiberglass, film covered wings and tail
Options: Retractable landing gear (Not Included)

Construction: Model assembly begins with attaching the ailerons to the wings using cloth-style hinges provided in the kit. The engine nacelle splits the flaps on each wing panel, which are connected with a U-shaped joiner wire. The flaps are attached after the wing sections are joined, to make their alignment easier to match.
The wing is composed of a center-section and two outer panels. The outer panels and control surfaces are built-up wooden structures, and the center-section is a fiberglass shell with a plywood skeleton.
Two aluminum tubes—measuring 87/16 inches in length and 3/4 inch in diameter—installed with epoxy are used as spars to permanently join the outer panels to the center-section with a slight amount of dihedral.
The aileron servos are installed in the outer panels before the wing is joined.
Four plywood formers give interior support to the fuselage’s one-piece fiberglass mold; the exterior seam joining the top and bottom is intelligently hidden with a change in paint color. The wing mates nicely with the fuselage’s saddle area using a notch and groove that ensures alignment. Three hefty metal screws are used to hold the wing in place.
The elevator halves are an airfoil-shaped, wood-frame construction. An aluminum tube that measures 615/16 inches in length and 3/8 inch in diameter joins the fiberglass stabilizer halves. The aluminum tube passes through a hole that must be cut through the sides of the molded fuselage.        Each elevator half is connected to the ends of a Y-shaped pushrod.
Similar to the elevator halves, the rudder has an airfoil-shaped wood frame.

*RETRACT NOTE*
The retract bays are built into the wing from the factory, so the retracts will drop right in.

Engine Installation: Mounting the engine is fairly simple. Two-piece engine mounts (provided in the kit) are used to hold each O.S. .32 SX. The power plants are side-mounted so that the stock muffler vents to the lower side of the engine nacelles. Use a Dremel Moto-Tool to carefully carved away areas of each cowl so they could fit over the engine/muffler and give access to the fuel filler, carburetor port, and needle valve.

Finishing: The NitroPlanes.com Mosquito ARF is covered with Solartex that has been professionally spray-painted with flat military colors: gray/green camouflage on the top and all light gray on the bottom.
The finish job is exceptional; all painted surfaces matched perfectly. Panel lines are embedded on all fiberglass parts.  The quality and quantity of included decals are excellent. They are made from a stick-on material and have a flat finish to match the paint.

The NitroPlanes.com Mosquito is a top-quality ARF that ought to be on your buy list. You will not be disappointed and you will be the envy at your flying field.[dingbat]
